The Good Stuff – Bordes Wines
In this episode of The Good Stuff presented by the Sonoma County Winegrowers, hosts Virginie Boone and Karissa Kruse talk to Carolyn Bordes, Co-Founder of Bordes Wines.
Carolyn Bordes is the co-founder of Bordes Family Wines, a boutique winery in Sonoma rooted in family, creativity, and community. From the bustling energy of New York and New Orleans to the tranquil vineyards of Sonoma, Carolyn’s journey reflects a lifelong spirit of adventure and passion for bringing people together through shared experiences.
Before wine, Carolyn built a remarkable career in residential real estate, and in 2015, Carolyn and her husband, Stephen, purchased a vineyard in Sonoma. What began as a garage experiment with a few tons of Pinot Noir grapes quickly grew into Bordes Family Wines, a label built on fun, friendship, and a hands-on spirit of discovery. Today, the Bordes family produces Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Rosé of Pinot Noir, inviting friends and guests to share in their “vineyard-to-glass” adventure.
When she’s not managing the vineyard or collaborating on wines, Carolyn enjoys biking with her husband Stephen, spending time with her children, and tending to the family’s property in Sonoma.
About Bordes Family Wines
In 2015, Carolyn and Stephen Bordes decided to make their own wine from their newly purchased vineyard in Sonoma. With no prior winemaking experience, they relied on a close friend to guide them through the process, turning each milestone—fermentation, barreling, bottling—into lively gatherings with family and friends.
After two vintages made at home, the Bordes family moved to a custom crush facility, expanding production and adding Chardonnay and Rosé of Pinot Noir to their portfolio. While the operation has grown, their playful, community-driven approach remains the same. With daughter Rachel Bordes as the winemaker, and Megan Bordes managing operations, Bordes Family Wines truly a family affair and a celebration of Sonoma’s bounty, created with passion and meant to be enjoyed together.
