Sonoma Valley and Schell-Vista fire districts approve new health insurance plans.
The change follows Fire and Risk Management Services ending coverage in June after serving six county fire agencies for over a decade. Sonoma Valley Fire District covers more than 70 active firefighters, with nearly 20 many more retirees promised lifetime benefits.
The district spends about one-point-four million dollars annually on health benefits.
The new insurance plans will be serviced through broker Keenan & Associates.
