The Rohnert Park City Council will discuss a proposed 14-percent water rate increase at a meeting tonight.
If approved, residents could see bills rise by an average of nine-dollars-ten-cents per month starting January 1st. Officials say the hike is intended to cover rising costs from inflation and the city’s aging water system, which needs 42-million-dollars in repairs.
Future increases are planned through 2030, with rates rising nine-percent in years two and three, seven-percent in year four, and six-percent in year five.
