In a rare primary showdown, long-time North Bay Congressman Mike Thompson is gearing up to defend his seat against two fellow Democrats.
The Press Democrat reports Congressman Thompson, a 15-term incumbent, will address voters this Monday, January 26th, at 6:30 p.m. during a virtual meeting hosted by the Sonoma Valley Democrats.
While Thompson has long focused on wildfire relief and gun violence legislation, he now faces two primary challengers: Eric Jones, a tech investor advocating for a federal minimum wage hike and a public healthcare option, and Trevor Merrell, a former case manager pushing for a single-payer system and a moratorium on AI data centers.
With redistricting pushing the 4th District into more conservative territory, this primary is shaping up to be a critical test for Thompson’s moderate record.
