Art Play Cafe Opens In Downtown Petaluma

A highly anticipated new gathering spot for families is officially open in downtown Petaluma.

The Art Play Cafe, founded by local moms Kate Greenspan and Elena Kaljian, celebrated its grand opening on Saturday in the former Roaring Donkey location on Kentucky Street. Per the Petaluma Argus Courier, described as a “third space” for families, the cafe offers Avid Coffee, pastries, and sandwiches, alongside a retail corner for art supplies.

The centerpiece for young visitors is a dedicated, interactive “Play Room” for children ages two through nine, available for a per-session fee. Greenspan emphasized the cafe’s local focus, with food from Costeaux Bakery and Bagel Mill. She added that the cafe was largely funded by local investors—families who were committed to making the vision of a community-focused creative space a reality.

The Art Play Cafe plans to host birthday parties, after-school art classes, and community events.
