The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors has updated its policy on how it spends money from the county’s hotel bed tax.
The Press Democrat reports the tax, which generates roughly 30 million dollars annually, is used for a variety of county costs. Supervisors say the recent changes were minor and focused on simplifying the policy’s language.
The board did not, however, address the more controversial topic of how the funds are actually allocated—a subject of long-standing debate among board members. The conversation on how the money is spent is expected to continue during next year’s budget season.
