Sonoma County’s WIC program is celebrating breastfeeding mothers and babies with a special event for World Breastfeeding Week.
The celebration is next Thursday, August 7th, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Santa Rosa WIC office. The bilingual event will feature a taco truck, a farmers’ market, and a “global latch-on” where mothers will breastfeed their babies together.
Officials say that while local breastfeeding rates are good, the event aims to provide crucial support to low-income and Spanish-speaking families.
