Crews from Sonoma County are helping battle the Green Fire near Lake Shasta.
The fire has burned 17-thousand-288 acres of land and is 17 percent contained. It started on July 1st. The fire is burning in rugged terrain north of a branch of Lake Shasta. Each day, Sonoma County’s waterborne strike teams are helping shuttle about 400 firefighters in boats to battle the fire.
Firefighters are split, with 200 working 12-hour morning shifts and the other 200 working 12-hour evening shifts.
