Sonoma County has begun paying its contractors after failing to pay several of them for months. The Press Democrat reports that payments from the County’s Department of Health Services have resumed to non-profit contractors, including to St. Vincent de Paul and Sonoma Applied Village Services. Health Services Director Tina Rivera wrote to service providers that state payment reforms had interfered with payments. These checks come as many of the non-profits were struggling financially. Some organization leaders were even lending their own money to keep the businesses afloat. Additionally, Poppy Bank has announced a $10-million loan program for those nonprofits who have not been getting paid on time from Health Services.
