Public School Enrollment Drops in Sonoma County

Public school enrollment continues to decline in Sonoma County. New data from the California Department of Education shows enrollment has dropped about point-six-six-percent from last year. The statewide decline was point-six-seven-percent. Countywide enrollment has fallen by eight-point-six-percent since 2017. And, the number of homeless and socioeconomically disadvantaged students is up this year. More than 31-thousand public school students in Sonoma County are considered socioeconomically disadvantaged, and nearly 700 are homeless.
